Sustainability

Sustainability is a part of ROL as an organization and our ambition is that we shall think from a sustainability perspective in everything we do.

We are a global business with production on three continents and almost 800 employees in several countries. In addition to our own production facilities, we have suppliers who provide us with raw materials and components for our products. With our global presence it comes great responsibility for ensuring that our employees have a good working environment, as well as the environmental impact of our production facilities. Since we have the opportunity to affect the situation of our suppliers, we also have responsibility for the impact on human and the environment

The challenges in the supplier perspective include ensuring that our suppliers comply with the requirements we have set in our Code of Conduct. In our own production facilities, the challenges are, among other things, to meet the different cultures that characterize our facilities in three different continents, as well as replace the use of fossil-based energy.

ROL Retail Concepts would like to proudly present one of our latest projects that we have undertaken for Hugo Boss. Hugo Boss has now moved back to newly renovated premises at the Hede Fashion outlet. Hugo Boss, renowned for its timeless designs, premium quality and meticulous attention to detail and it epitomizes authentic, understated luxury. Founded by German tailor Hugo Ferdinand Boss in 1924, the men’s collection offers razor-sharp tailoring along with refined casual options, while BOSS Womenswear stands for feminine styles with a strong focus on fine fabrics and subtle detailing.

Q8

Q8 have built two new service stations, Kalbygård Skov North and South, located on the new motorway between Aarhus and Silkeborg. The stations are designed by the Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta and they are built on sustainable principles. The new service stations are architect-designed to fit into the beautiful landscape with the deciduous forest to the north and the hills to the south.

Kuster Olie

When Kuster Olie came to us with a brief to develop a future-proof concept for their gas station, our team at ROL Retail Concepts helped Kuster from start to finish. The name "Your Energy Point" was chosen and had to stand for convenience, experience, service, and mobility. The 10,000 square meter site offers many types of fuels, but also a 35-meter long car wash, truck wash, washing boxes and of course a shop.

The shopfitting concept highlights a wide variety of products, from flowers, toys, clothing, home decor, media, kitchen equipment and in turn each departments concept design has been worked through to ensure that each product receives as good exposure as possible.
Such extensive concept development places high demands on technical know-how and also entails extensive prototype production to test and validate ideas, technical and functional solutions.
Importantly it is also ideal to be able to see and compare solutions with different types of materials, colours and shapes. Where the staff dining room of Ericsson was once situated you will now find a new ICA Supermarket. The building is, just like the surrounding area, a cultural monument. ROL Fredbergs was given the go ahead to undertake the Project management services for a new construction of a McDonald's restaurant at Sky City. It is a very comprehensive project and its implementation took 9 weeks. Then followed 3 weeks of work on dismantling and restoring the room where McDonald's had the previous restaurant at the airport. The project included elements such as floating flooring, laying tiles, building walls, electrical work, painting, installing furnishings, installing alarms, coordinating kitchen construction and installing payment equipment and more.
“What was a bit special and challenging about this project was that there are two very sensitive tenants who are neighbours to the restaurant we built, a hotel and a bank. This meant that jobs that sound a lot like drilling or sawing could only be performed during specially agreed times of the day”, says Anders Gillström. We also had to make certain adjustments during the project because the conceptual drawing did not always match the fire protection equipment of the premises. But we made these adjustments in discussion with Per Widmark of McDonalds, during the project, says Anders. Thanks to a good dialogue, this did not create any problems.

ROL Fredbergs has worked with many of the surfaces at a cinema. The projects have included shop spaces, cash registers, cold rooms, lounges, and toilet areas. Everything from ceilings, floors and walls to furnishings and digital signage installations are redone. “These are very complex projects involving many professional groups that come together as a whole.” - says ROL Fredbergs Project Manager, Rickard Fredberg.
Some projects are a bit more unique than others and that’s why ROL Fredbergs has chosen to present Filmstaden Bergakungen, which is one of the most spectacular cinemas in the Nordic region and is based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Since a large part of the 10,000 m2 facility is built into a mountain rock, the facility is considered one of Northern Europe's most modern cinemas and is also one of Sweden's most visited.
We had the opportunity to interview Filmstaden AB's project manager Åsa Edholm. Åsa has worked for Filmstaden since 1998, and now she works at Filmstadens Support Office, which is responsible for rebuilding and new construction of store areas. Bergakungen is an exciting cinema that we have been with and built from the ground up. We have had different solutions for our shop and lounge area over the years, but the two most recent renovations in the shop area, which were carried out in 2016 and 2017 in collaboration with LBE Arkitekter and ROL Fredbergs, have been incredibly successful. The flow for our guests has improved significantly. In addition to our fine and well-stocked shop, an exciting restaurant and a café, the Bergakungen also has a VIP lounge, with comfortable leather recliner chairs and a VIP bar where you can have a drink before the film. The VIP lounge includes drinks and popcorn in the ticket price, says Åsa.
What has been important to you in the project delivery of Filmstaden - Bergakungen? “Communication and a clear timetable are key for a successful project. The presence of project managers for the construction, clear feedback both locally to those involved in the cinema as well as centrally, problem solving and open communication. We are also very careful with details, everything must be perfect and the furniture should have a nice finish. We have got that at Bergakungen”. Working with ROL Fredbergs feels simple and solution-oriented. I like that we get clear and quick answers,” says Åsa.
What is important to you before you start a project and choose a supplier? "Clear quotes, clear timetable with flags for what can become" show-stoppers ", simple and easy to communicate, focus on delivery as desired, opportunity for possible visits to factories to look at details and quality", answers Åsa. About the result: “Significantly better flow and greater supply for our guests. Simple stands in standard formats that are easy to reconfigure for our colleagues who work with the store. In this project, the customer-focused on getting a qualitative solution and qualitative delivery of digital signage in the store and cash register area. “It was a fun project, fun to manage, and it’s rewarding when what you do becomes such a positive difference for the customer. Håkan Cullberg is the architect behind the spectacular cinema Bergakungen, which was built in 2006. The cinema has 14 salons with space for 2,260 cinema visitors.
